JUSTIN ADAMS WINS BBC RADIO 3 WORLD MUSIC AWARD FOR "SOUL SCIENCE" AND TOURS WITH TINARIWEN
World Village is proud to announce that Robert Plant guitarist and Tinariwen collaborator Justin Adams has just won the "Culture Crossing" category in the BBC Radio 3 World Music Awards. The award-winning new album Soul Science (available in the U.S. May 13) is a collaboration with longtime friend and Gambian musician Juldeh Camara. Watch the BBC Radio Awards highlights video here.
May also brings a U.K. tour for Adams with desert rockers Tinariwen, featuring Camara and Soul Science percussionist Salah Dawson Miller.
"It might be a minority view, but this sounds more exciting to me than a Led Zeppelin reunion." - The Times, London
"Unquestionably the cross-cultural album of the year." - The Independent (UK)
Justin Adams is one the UK's most original and inspirational guitarists. He was described by Robin Denselow in the Guardian as 'Britain's answer to Ry Cooder'. His solo debut, Desert Road, impressed Robert Plant and initiated their collaboration on projects including the now legendary Festival in the Desert. Since 2001, Justin has been guitarist and co-writer for Robert Plant's band Strange Sensations and played on Plant's Grammy-nominated album Dreamland. Justin Adams also features together with Robert Plant on the celebrated Festival in the Desert album (2003) in addition to the documentary film of the same event. Justin is noted also for his production work - including three albums by French band Lo'Jo who were seminal in creating the Festival in the Desert. His other credits include pioneering work in the early '90s with Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart, recording and touring with Sinead O'Connor & Natacha Atlas and co-writing albums for Ali Slimani and Cara Dillon. Film projects include writing the soundtrack for the film KIN (set in Namibia, collaborating with South African musicians) and contributing to the soundtrack of the Bosnian Jasmin Dizdars' film Beautiful People. Justin's individual style has also led him to work with Brian Eno, Hector Zazou, Peter Gabriel, Billy Bragg, The Indigo Girls, Moodswings, Hukwe Zawose and U-Cef.

Downbeat & The Independent: "spews sparks like a downed power line" 1 week ago
"Their sensational Bo Diddley homage, 'Ya Ta Kaaye,' spews sparks like a downed, dangerous power line, with fiddler Camara as wild as Cajun Doug Kershaw and Adams as passionate as Johnny Ramone."
Mr. Pablo Spencer says:
I like the music. Very creative.
