If you have kids someday, please don't name your kid Nabal. I was reading in 1 Samuel chapter 25 about this dude named Nabal - he raised sheep. If you read the story, you will see David basically protects Nabal's men & sheep and then David asks Nabal for a favor, but Nabal refuses. This passage spoke to me, here is how it hit me:
#1 Nabal had priors: He lived a pattern in his life that shaped his character (verse 3). "He was surly & mean in his dealings."
#2 Nabal was greedy (verse 10).
#3 Nabal did not recognize what God was doing around him (verse 21). David said about Nabal, "...watching over this fellows property in the desert so that nothing of his was missing. He has paid back evil for good."
#4 Nabal was no longer useful. The Lord asked something from Nabal, yet he refused (verse 38).
