So i am approaching real life fatherhood... My son, Jayce should be popping out on the scene sometime around February; and when he does I am guessing it will be a life-changer. But you know what, I am excited about it. What an unbelievable gift God has given my wife and me, I am stoked. So since I am part of the "Dad Club" now certain catch phrases grab my attention. I heard on the news the other night that the state of Massachusetts is proposing a law that will ban parents from spanking their kids (in or outside of their home). Although I am sure there are a lot of kids who are keeping their fingers crossed, and a lot of kids that have began praying for the first time in their lives, but there are several things that bother me about this propsed law...

1. If the Government can tell you how to discipline (or should I say, How not to discipline your kids) then what can't they tell you?
If they can make judgement calls on how you are to raise YOUR children, can't they tell you how to cut their hair, or what religion you have to raise your children, or what clothes they are required to wear? If they can dictate this, rather large and personal matter, I can foresee them deciding much more in the future.

2. Thank God for spankings. Seriously, I got a lot of spankings when I was little. And thank God I did, because I needed them! I would have been a Hellian if my parents were not allowed to spank me. However, my parents spanked my butt and then sat me down and explained why they did it.

So I say "Spank away!"
