mix the words "juxtapose" and "polaris".
juxtapose means "to place close together or side by side, especially for comparison or contrast" and "polaris" means the north star (or pole star) situated close to the north pole of the heavens. because polaris lies nearly in a direct line with the axis of the earth's rotation above the north pole, this star stands almost motionless in the sky and all other stars appear to rotate around it...therefore making it an excellent fixed point to draw measurements for navigation.

it is also quite interesting that polaris is a trinary system-consisting of a large yellow cepheid variable orbited by a bright yellow dwarf and another very close dwarf companion. what a beautiful picture this paints of a star with two other parts....and all the other stars rotating around it....being the central focus of the world providing guidance and direction...God.

thus, juxtapolaris means "being next to the guiding light".

songwriting competition...

so, today i will be sending these three songs in to enter a songwriting competition in estes park, colorado. there is also an artist competition, but i felt like songwriting was what i might rather get myself into first.

the week long convention is held at the end …
