Many of the songs on "Monochrome Heart" are songs that go with my semi-autobiographical music webcomic, Angels of the Sword. All the bluesy and rockin' songs go with it, and "Maybe Tomorrow" is the comic's current theme song. Click the banner, below, to check out the comic! It's still in development, but I do have a couple dozen full-size pages up on the site, right now. The story is not for kids, though, due to strong language, graphic violence, drug and alcohol abuse and adult situations.

Hope you enjoy it!
If you like prose stories, check out my fiction site at my Outlaw Starr site. Here's a nifty banner for it, showcasing my Western series, "Desperado." The novels are serialized on the site, daily.

Kai Starr is a shell-shocked veteran of a few very sucky 80's cover bands--guys who never wanted to do his original material. He went through some extremely rough times, and didn't make any music for several years, but now that he's back into playing guitar, he refuses to do any more covers, outside of karaoke bars. He loves to sing anything that lets his voice go soaring up into the high ranges, or play around notes in a sensual or fun way, but he has a special place in his heart for blues and blues-rock.
"Monochrome Heart" is Kai's entry for the 2007 RPM "Record an Album in 28 Days" Challenge. You might get something like this if you tossed the sounds of George Harrison, Roy Orbison, the Allman Brothers, Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy into a blender with a large chunk of Texas clay mud. "Monochrome Heart" is about equal parts softly crooned rock and kickin' and wailin' blues. The overall theme is love--wanting it, rejoicing in it, rejecting it, hoping for it. All in a 70s-style packaging! Groovy! ;P The tracks follow Kai's learning curve with recording. They get better, as you go along.

Ay carumba! I think that's French for "howdy"... or something like that. I'm so glad I got your actual carbon-negative album on CD. Dial up sucks. Still listening and enjoying the high notes. If I could sing like that, I'd never do anything else. We've got to get together on something one of these days.

hello Kai Starr (^0^) I voted your tune called 'Come To Me ' at RPM site but my favorite one is ' My Whole Life Is You ' it was really tough to choose only one song from your album. as other RPMers say maybe ' Bad Boy Blues ' is also perfect one for Jazz Category Album .Thanks to RPM , now I 've got cool friend !

Yup, red walls sure are inspiring. Would recommend them to anyone. It certainly beats the "battleship grey" that was there before! Perhaps you could hang some red clothy drapey hanging stuff instead of painting? S.

Thanks Kai, yeah I like Randy Rhodes but that track was more inspired by guitarists like Joe Satriani. I know what you mean about the time it takes to put it all together. I've not played guitar like that for a while and, what with all the drum programming and bass (not to mention the sore fingers from all the playing), it took longer than expected to play up to speed, until I eventually ran out of it! I guess the challenge was about creating music that you wouldn't usually create so anything that you do within the month is a bonus. It's worth it if only a handful of the tracks comes out great, which you more than succeeded in doing! Merlin.

I think we are at that! :-D Thanks for the add, great rpm album, it's nice to finally hear it in all it's glory! If you want to hear one of my more rockin' tracks, have a listen to Dracrock. I ran out of time before I could finish it but you get the idea ;-) Merlin.

Nice choice on the fantasty strat. I am piecing together a restoration project for my 84. Love the Electra as well. And anyone who does not kiss their guitar on occassion is not a guitarist! Hehe....... JG-The other half of Rubys Cannon

Thanks for the add and the comments. Zippos and Frisbees, both were never far from me back in the day. LOL. I ended my sucky 80's hair band style one night just after my guitarist and I had an escalated conversation in the dressing room over the eyeliner he was hogging. Wouldn’t want my beautiful eyes to get washed out in the stage lights. What was I thinking? I guess we're better for the expirience. ROCK ON, DUDE!
