Kama Sutra Lovers

Siddhu and Diana Ayanna are no strangers to the music industry. Their love of music, textural rhythms, fashion, glamour, mysticism, and all things artistic, led them to merge forces and create the Kama Sutra Lovers as an avatar for their creative energies.

This hot new duo is exploring new dimensions of DJ'ing and live electronic music on stage using drum machines, synths, live vocals, and laptops running Ableton Live.

With these elements, the Kama Sutra Lovers not only reference the history of modern electronic music performance and DJ culture, but move into it's next phase: the exciting combination of live performance using drum machines, synths, and vocals, with on the fly remixing and deconstruction of tracks on a granular level with micro loops.

Inspired and motivated by this intersection of music and technology, the Kama Sutra Lovers show is organically evolving on the cutting edge. Not burdened by preconceived notions of what a "DJ" or band should be, or what technology they must use to be "authentic", the Kama Sutra Lovers show of today, will not be the same show in 2 years, let alone 5 years.

Poised to be a major breakout act for 2009, the Kama Sutra Lovers are playing dates across Europe, North America, and India, and have launched the innovative "Live Machine Mix" podcast series exploring different artistic and technological approach to DJ'ing and electronic music performance.

The Kama Sutra Lovers show is Diana and Siddhu creating and manipulating audio using:

2 Macbook Pros running Ableton Live
Elektron Monomachine (synthesizer)
Elektron Machinedrum (drum machine)
Neumann KMS 105 microphone
2 Metric Halo 2882 sound cards
Top secret outboard gear
A whole bunch of midi controllers

Their unique signal processing gives their beats a powerful punch and adds a silky, sexy shimmer to their signature brand of DirtyHorny-TechHouse-MinimalFunk!

Kama Sutra Lovers Booked for Ultra Music Festival

We're super excited to have been booked to play at the Ultra Music Festival 2009 in Miami. As you may or may not know, Ultra has become one of the world's leading two-day electronic music festivals and it's probably the number one festival for electronic music in North America. Coachella is the other contender for the number one spot.

Last year over 55,000 dance music enthusiasts coming from the entire United States and over 50 countries around the world were in attendance, marking it as the largest ever UMF event and ranking at #14 on Pollstar's 2008 Mid Year Top 100 Concert Grosses.

In about 3-4 weeks we should have the day we're playing (Saturday or Sunday), as well as which stage, and our set time. See you in the sun!

Berlin Calling

The inspiring story follows a Techno DJ, named Ikarus (played by real-life producer and DJ Paul Kalkbrenner) through an emotional roller coaster as his overwhelming tour schedule starts to take a toll on him....

Unable to lighten up on his drug use, his life takes a rapid nosedive when after playing a show, he takes a pill containing a deadly toxin which catapults him into a state of psychosis. The film cleverly uses interesting characters, bits of humor and a plethora of great music that kept us thoroughly captivated till the end.

After the showing, we were introduced to both the director of the film, Hannes Stohr and the lead actor. I had expected a little more information on the actual filming of the movie which would have been really interesting, but much to my dismay there was little said aside from where the after party was going to be held. Like Hannes said, "This is when life imitates art".
