Beetles & Spider
A bold name which embodies everything, a secret treasure you've been hunting for all your life might
contain. Mysterious, sexy, brutal yet softly arousing your senses, unforgiving, catchy, real, knowing
who's hiding behind the name becomes a necessity, an irresistible desire.
Behind that name stands a true woman who could very well be a flagship hero for a whole generation
of young adults who grew up during the rise of the machines.
But being a role model isn't Kate Wax's priority. She is unique, she has her own world, a strange, daring,
and breathtaking universe which she can only offer to you through one medium: music.
This universe of her own was built through her Tibetan and European origins, her childhood with her
grandmother, her travels around the world. It also found its foundations in pain, the fear of not fitting in,
the never-ending search for inner peace.
Desperately looking for the most effective way to open the doors to her inner world, Kate Wax started
with graphic design, her first relationship with the machines. Talent was there, success was only a few
steps away. But it wasn't enough...
So the young soprano-trained chorist woke up one day and decided she had to go for it. She quit.
And got closer to the machines.
The machines that fascinated her, the machines which Autechre and Aphex Twin were bringing to the
most extreme limits in front of Kate Wax's illuminated eyes and ears. Kate Wax spent long nights
teaching herself music softwares and electronics instruments. A true learning experience, an initiation
ritual. She had found her kingdom, her way out, our way in.
Becoming a part of her existence, the tunnel leading to the celebrated light, the machines allowed
Kate Wax to give birth. The birth of her music.
Names are thrown...PJ Harvey, Bauhaus, Cabaret Voltaire, Run DMC, this, that, electro-pop, hiphop,
grime, blues, lo-fi, techno, punk, Bach's Cantatas...
At the end of the day, Kate Wax is probably all of this. Or none of this.
Kate Wax does it her own way, she's in control.
Her music pushes the boundaries of these various genres and emerges as a splendid and cohesive piece
of postmodern music, thanks to an incredibly seductive and emotion-driven voice, an out-of-this world
charisma, a vocal delivery that can adapt to any situation, and lyrics playing perfectly with the balance
between abstract and straight to your face.
Kate Wax has surpassed the exploitation of technology and the supremacy of the machines.
She uses the cold to bring back the warm, the human nature.
Felix Da Housecat wasn't wrong when he let Kate Wax steal the show on his album, the same can be
said of Ellen Alien, Trevor Jackson, Roman Fluggel and all the other artists who fell in love with Kate Wax.
She proved them right with her stunning and critically-acclaimed album 'Reflections of the Dark Heat',
a self-written and produced odyssey taking us in Kate's heart, mind, and soul. A volcano of charisma
which displays the multiple faces of Kate Wax...the vamp, the rebel, the dark eyes girl in the corner,
the dancefloor goddess, the weird friend who makes you feel safe.
This album, Kate Wax takes it to new heights, with her incredible stage presence,
the addition of a live drummer, a well-constructed live and a warm connection with her audience.
At the end of the show, when the smoke clears, Kate Wax stands tall as a unique artist.
A true showgirl. A real adventure...The Dark Heat Tour to be experienced till the end of 2007.

His name is Steve. He was born in Milan, then a bunch of crazy stuff happened. Now he lives in Portland Oregon, where he crafts his own unique blend of electronic music. www.letsgooutside.com www.myspace.com/letsgooutside www.virb.com/letsgooutside free download @ www.oneweektolive.com Soma have decided to release a free single! It will be released exclusively with One Week To Live as the UK magazine prepares to go completely digital. The decision came after Soma were tiring of seeing releases on illegal mp3 websites. It will be available athttp://www.OneWeekToLive.com Who better to try out such an experiment than the debutant Let's Go Outside. Following massive response from the likes of Josh Wink, Ivan Smagghe and Andrew Weatherall for his debut release on Soma's experimental offshoot Pnuma Records, Soma believe that it's only right for Let's Go Outside to play with the big boys on this release. Let's Go Outside hails from Portland, Oregon where he first released on small local experimental label, Buried In Time. He then moved onto Bradford-based Midnight Recordings before being picked up by Pnuma shortly after. Citing his influences as "techno, techno, techno and Tetris", LGO also takes inspiration from IDM, ambient and electro, all of which are evident in this three-tracker. Early 2008 will see the re-release of I'll Lick Your Spine by LGO (originally on Pnuma). This will feature remixes by Massi DL and label mate, Vector Lovers. Let's Go Outside's debut album, 'A Picnic With The Hunters', is due for release in January 2008.
