I have been busy as crap since I have been on VIRB in any active capacity. Sad to say, but true.
Well, not sad... we went to Sweden and Iceland and that ruled. Since we brought the lappy and was busy putting together shit in iPhoto (dumping megs and megs of photos each day - we were like Japanese tourists at times), I rolled out a cheap iWeb-based gallery [Shiße! My host is not being happy from my office - don't think it is down, but not happy - will make link laters]. It will be replaced - working on a redesign of of my wife & my site... among other things.
On thing that I have been doing is work - work at work (day job shit), freelance shit, and something in between... I work for a government contractor, so my 80 hrs/2 weeks (as per my position's contract) must be for work at the Center... filled in with holiday/PTO/etc. as needed. Anything above needs to be approved (no big deal if needed) and is paid through the contract. I can, however, do work for my employer directly, but it has to be above and beyond the normal hours. This is what I am working on...
I am redesigning, rebuilding, and coding apps for a new website for my company, and since I cannot work on it on government property with government equipment, I do it at home (yay!), on my own Mac (yay!), in my underwear (yay!). Since it is over my normal work, I get paid overtime (woot) which comes out close (but not quite) as much as my freelance rate - but then again, my 401k (and company matching) does apply. In any regard, since this is on the weekends and evening, when possible at that, it is slow going, but not any huge pressure, so long as it is moving and it is turning out good.
I also did some graphic design - but it has been delayed mid-stream, due to a death in the client's family and having to put the logo-design/branding interests for their small business on hold... so I cut an invoice for what was done so far (since it was before Sweden when this started -and it is logo design, not a large-scale branding/web project yet). That should be coming in... well, a few days ago, but here's hoping it is in the mail...
My wife and I have been running around with projects and family visits and weddings we attended. We also got rid of our car - we pay too much to park, insure, and maintain the car (even though it was great and in excellent shape), especially since we only take it out about 4-5 times a month (we use the T to commute). So we are adapting to everything.
In other fun news - I got my ass a new Apple Cinema display (23" widescreen) which is very very nice.
Well, back to real world crap - as well as (hopefully soon) getting my real blog off the ground soon.
