Hey, my name is Casey and I am a follower of Jesus Christ. Up until July of 2004 I have never known what it was like to know that regardless of the situation there was someone who would never give up on me, never stop loving me, that I could always depend on, and who would always be looking out for me. God met me where I was at that summer and I committed myself to Jesus Christ, now I know what it is to have all those things.
I was an only child, now I have so many brothers and sisters in the church (I say that in a general sense not just my church) it's ridiculous. You guys know who you are - I love you guys and I'm always here for you.
Right now I am volunteering at
The City Church, my church, and the youth church which is called
Generation Church. I mainly do things at our University District service and our Central District service. I've completed the 05 -06 first year
Generation Interns program at the City Church and it was amazing. I learned so much it's ridiculous and took my understanding and love of God to another level.
My interests are bound up in my vision for the future. There is a culture war being fought out there for the hearts and the minds of our youth. The media - movies, music, books, television, and internet - is being used by man whether it's because of their own desires for money and power or manipulation by the devil or his agents to pervert, dumb down, harden, brain wash, and kill our youth. The enemy has been using patience and subtly to invade and take control of popular culture. We wait until the enemy is blatant to step up but by then he is so entrenched he's almost impossible to remove. We as Christians need to pay attention to what is going on out there. We need to push back. We've sat back for too long and we need to invade and take back the popular culture. We need to stop being so inwardly focused - sure it's nice to make movies, music, and books for Christians but what about the unsaved? We need to create entertainment that is geared towards the unsaved. It needs to be quality - it can't be some cheesy movie that ends up on TBN with a Baldwin brother in it (I love that guy). It needs subtlety and it should make the non-Christian think. We need to lay a foundation for others that will follow us in reaching these people. So that when someone does witness to them, they will be more receptive. Instead of hardening hearts we will be softening them. We need to do this by any means necessary.
