Kim Powers born in London Uk, began his career singing in pubs 'n clubs around England with various rock bands.He went out to join a Swiss band in the eighties.The first album Airwave was recorded in the beautiful PowerPlay studios in Maur near Zurich under the watchful ear of Martin Pearson who also worked with (Queen,Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry, Boy George, Clannad,Keith Jarret) to name a few. Airwave was released on the German label Teldec and was published by Munneycroft of London.This was followed by a return to UK to write and record with members of Ruby Turners Band for Carlin music London.Hot n' Nasty vol1 & 2 published by Emi / Mainhatten music.Hot n' Nasty had a great name as live act as well as on Tv.
During the summer holiday Kim got a call from EMi with an offer of a job with the German hard rock band 'Overdose Kids', the band were in the 'Horus Studio' in Hannover and were looking for a top vocalist.Kim travelled to Mannheim got the job and went into the studio to record.The resulting album 'Too late to pray' was released on the top hard rock label 'SPV' and published by Warner/chappel music.The band received rave revues for the live concerts...After the last tour Kim withdrew from the business to retank and rethink,. His love of real soul music and singers like Otis Redding, Al Green ,Solomon Burke, was in total contrast to what he was doing and it was the main reason he picked up a microphone again, Kim just wanted to be creative and sing with a bit of feelin' instead of having to scream...After a couple of years locked away in the small dark rehearsal room he joined a cover band to get the feelin' of being on stage again, but his dislike of having to sing Bon Jovi and other material lead him away from there and straight into JFK Studios with Dj Dm Free.and Dj David Steel.Ahhh fresh air, spontanious creativity and most of all....FUN....For this part please see Electro Soul ft Kim Powers...the Ep was released on many download shops worldwide.
Now Kim is working with various people from different parts of the world and also writing and recording alone.Some of the demos can be heard here....The track 'Monkey Bizzness' was written as a reminder TO STOP EXPERIMENTS ON ANIMALS IN THE LABS ALL OVER THE WORLD.A tribute to all ALF activists worldwide who risk their own freedom to free the beloved animals..SUPPORT THE ALF NOW!
