Green Tentacle, I have you in my sights!!!!
I have a little time to kill while I download Maniac Mansion (hence the Green Tentacle taunt), so I figured I'd drop in for an update.
It seems to be official that we're recording these next two albums on our own at the studio, which can be difficult and tedious, but will free us from time constraints, and ridiculously huge recording costs. It will also allow us to try out all the bizarre shit that pops into our heads without engineers or anyone telling us that it's too weird or dangerous or illegal. Not that we didn't do some weird shit at New Alliance last time around,...but Nick and Tim were always there to make sure we were home before the street lights came on.
This time the voice of reason will be one of us....which means there will be no voice of reason whatsoever. Things have already been getting out of hand just recording the demo versions, so this should be a wild ride.
Here's a bit of the tracklist (If You were at our last show then you heard a couple of these:)
Down To A Sunless Sea
The Piano Tuner
Respirator
Yeah Tonight
The 27th Letter
Square Wheels
The Hook
The Sound of Crashing Cars
Rearview
The Red Blood Reigns in Winter's Pale
Homonym
Tom Who
Clearly Odd Timing
Rowdy Roddy Piper at The Gates of Dawn
...I'm blanking on the rest of them. We have a few more and will have much more I'm sure before we are finished. We're averaging a song a practice, so we're going to have to pull the reigns in soon so we can get some of these down. These songs are waaaay out there. I haven't touched a guitar at a Kinnar practice in months,...Not that these songs are ALL keyboard oriented, but we've just been doing things differently lately. People switching instruments, Pear and Spanky getting in on vocal duties, collaborating on lyrics, Eric preferring vaginas to penises...
I've almost put some demos up, but I'd rather wait until the albums are done. We're thinking of releasing one album and playing a show like the shows we have played in the past, and then releasing the other album 2 weeks later with our first ever semi-acoustic sit-down show, and playing each album in their entirety at their respective releases.
I did design those shirts I was telling you guys about, (The "wiffleball" and "Mass Rock" designs that are up in our pics), but when I was done it said "prices starting at $19.95". I might not even pay that for a vintage Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka T-Shirt, nevermind a Kinnar shirt. The designs are pretty sick though so we're going to send them to Sire Press and have them done for MUCH MUCH less than that. I think they'll be a 2 or 3 pesos each.
To the bookers that have sent me messages about shows, I haven't answered any of them, because we aren't planning on playing any for a while. I read them and make a mental note to answer it eventually, but then I start thinking about Perfect Strangers episodes and shit and I forget all about it. I'm not snubbing anyone to be a dick...we're all just really really ridiculously busy lately. I'm also the only one that signs onto this, so when people send messages to Pear, Spanky, and Eric, chances are they aren't going to get it. Pear and Spanky have their own pages anyway...look in our top friends there Malorkus.
It's also come to my attention that people haven't been able to put Hometown Zero in their myspace players...I have no idea why this is, but good luck to you and yours.
I have also tried adding a 6th song to our myspace profile, but none of them will fit. It is a downside to having 9 minute songs I guess. Maybe I'll dig up some old unreleased stuff see if I can squeeze it in there. (That's what SHE SAID!)
If you're interested in maybe appearing somewhere on our new albums or being part of our expanded live show, and you are friendly enough with us that it won't be weird, send me a message. Which reminds me...if you're reading this, I got your message about this very circumstance John, and when the time comes we'll put something together.
Happy Festivus Party People,
