Forgetting Sarah Marshall is quite honestly one of the best comedies I've seen in a while. Written by Jason Segel, the film's star, you find him both funny and believable. The movie has lots of hilarious moments and all the characters are fun and interesting. You will find Segel's character honest, real, and funny. Also very interesting is Segel playing piano and singing. I noticed right off that he was really playing piano but his music becomes a large part of the film and you realize how talented he is.
Sarah Marshall, played by Kristen Bell, and Rachel Jansen, Mila Kunis, are both great as Segel's love interests. Both there characters also have a lot of depth and are not just one sided. It's nice that this story is not just that his ex is a horrible girlfriend so she dumps him and he finds the perfect girl. Bell's new boyfriend Aldous Snow, , is great. A British pop sex symbol he brings a lot of comedy to the movie in his character and his acting.
Jonah Hill plays a great role with one of the funniest lines in the movie, it's almost a game to see how long it takes you to get it but once you get it you won't forget it, and Paul Rudd is likable as ever. The cinematography is not amazing, although with this kind of movie I don't think it has to be. If it weren't set against a beautiful backdrop I don't think it would be memorable.
This movie, like most films Judd Apatow is involved in, has a lot of heart. It's not just people on the screen doing ridiculous things to make you laugh with no meaning behind them. The characters feel real, they are multi-faceted, and they just happen to make you laugh along the way, a lot.
