About

Many would say Koxe is a late starter. Focusing on music and mix tapes at the age of 16 after education came to an abrupt end and street life became even more of a reality.

Born and bred in Westwood Peterborough, Koxe wrote his first tune 'Johnny' at the age of 12 to no beat, after coming to terms with the council estate way of living. After writing 'Johnny', Koxe threw the crumble pieces of paper in the bottom of the chest of drawers and didn't touch pen to paper lyrically again... Until the age of 14. When his sister Jemma tragically died of a asthma attack at the age of 12 on a wet, miserable day in the middle of August. Not knowing how to cope with the loss of such a close family member at such an early age he poured all emotions out of the pen onto paper. (This track stays close to the heart of Koxe.) Again Koxe put the finished written song away for years . It was only when Koxe became close friends with Johnson at the age of 16, he turned his old sheets of paper into tracks. Johnson invited Koxe around to write some lyrics to any hip-hop beat. The chose the classic, 'This Is How We Do' by The Game and made their own original version. This is how weSTWOOD do.

Since then they released two mix tapes of various tunes. The first, 'Copyright'. Given its name due to all the dubs they took from other artists. The second 'Aim To Achieve', which consisted of mostly Koxe. He handed this out to friends and locals of the estate thinking nothing of it but it came to the attention of a local business man, John Waller (who for some reason had an interest in rap music). Before Koxe knew it he was recording in MKstudios in London, with a producer making his own beats! Which was impossible for Koxe to do before hand.

The plan was to make a demo. John was constantly arranging meetings with various labels, promotion companies etc, whilst patiently waiting for the 5 tracks to be made and recorded. Koxe completed his first track 'Irreversible'. A tune about the way youths were acting towards each other on the street. Arrogant and bitter when really they had no reason to be?

The demo came to an abrupt end when John tragically died in a helicopter crash with Chelsea FC Vice president P.Carter. A blow for Koxe's music career as all links with labels and recording studios were cut but an even bigger blow for Koxe. He had grown to love the caring business man who had took James from mix tapes to real music because he felt James could achieve more. (RIP JOHN. YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I KNOW YA LISTENING)

So at the present day Koxe is back to the mix tapes, back with Johnson, but also making their own beats now, so they can start to promote on a larger scale. The 3rd mixtape is 'Streetbeats' as he's back to the streets.

REMEMBER! ITS ALL ABOUT THE LYRICS. YOU JUST GOTTA LISTEN. IN 2 YEARS THIS HAPPENS, IN 4?
HOLD TIGHT WESTWOOD BOYS!!!
HOLD TIGHT JOHNSON!!!

'Irreversible' Single Complete

I've been down to London numerous times now to record. My first track is 'Irreversible'. We had to record 2 versions; a clean, radio version and a dirty version and it probably took about 1-2 months for the track to be complete. A lot of hard work but well worth the …
