Imogen in my brain at the moment. I'm there.
About 2 or 3 weeks ago I ran across one of her video blogs. I've always been a huge fan, but now I'm really hooked. I watched all 35 ten minute blogs in a couple days as she went through some of her studio renovation and song-writing processes. Incredible. I also heard/saw a "hang drum" for the first time. It's probably the most beautiful acoustic instrument I've ever heard. I have to have one....eventually. There are only two people that make them in the world (the instrument was invented in 2000 in Bern, Switzerland I believe). It very cleverly uses different scales and drones that produce these incredible set of overtones. Now I'm waiting for her 3rd album and I think it's going to blow my mind even more. Can't wait.
I've recently hit this point where I can't spend anymore time living for tomorrow. I spend so much of my "internal" life thinking about how this or that affects my future film scoring career. If you don't take thorough steps, you'll never get there. I really got that the other day and deepened my contentment in the moment. It's a wonderful place to be. My life is so good, I can't waste moments of thanksgiving and actually living in my own shoes for hopes of my future me's shoes; if that makes sense. I think I'm in the final stages of grief from our friends moving over 6 months ago. You start spending too much idle time wishing you were somewhere else. Idle time is one of our greatest enemies. Drink deep the joy of every moment! Sometimes you just have to get out of your own head.
We just got a Nikon D40. It's basically a "prosumer" camera. Entry level, but better than your average pocket digital....I think :o). I uploaded some funny "attempts" on flickr. Sophie, our little maltese, is such funny dog. She was our prime subject for the evening. I really can't remember hardly anything from my photography class back in high school...but Mike gave us some books and I'm going to start paying attention to people's settings in their photo captions on Flickr. All these photos are simply auto with no flash...well, some of them have flash, and you can tell by the "colder temperature" in the photo. It should be a fun hobby....a long developing hobby, but fun.
