It's quiet. I do cherish the quiet. You can hear things breath. In and out.
Lots going on, yet much the same. I haven't progressed much in photography, but it's more Joanna's thing. I'm glad she does it, so I don't have to! I was accepted to Hargrave Martial Arts, which is exciting. I studied Tae Kwon Do as a kid and now I will be studying Jeet Kune Do which was the martial art that Bruce Lee developed from Kung Fu, Fencing, and some tips from Muhammed Ali. I'm excited about it, I haven't done a sport for a long time. I won't be doing competition or anything, it's not a competition art.
I let things pile up! It's not that I'm not productive, I just take on too many things. I don't know if people understand this about me, but if I'm two things, I'm efficient and thorough. Which means, there isn't a magazine that I don't read through, a book I don't finish, or a blog I don't eventually update. This leads to tiny bits of neurosis :o) The reason being that I have magazines piled up, several books to finish and 3 blogs to write on! I do hate living life because it's on my "to-do" list.
I'm finding that I really hate online social networking (facebook, myspace, etc.) as well. I think we'd all be better off with spending time with people in our immediate instead of browsing old high school acquaintances' pictures and comments. This of course doesn't apply to actual friends that have moved away or family. But really....300 "friends"? :o) It just is interesting to me that there exists the phrase "online community". I'm not totally bashing it, it's nice to stay in touch with your loved ones. But really, I think most of us have taken it a bit too far. I call it "facebook stalking". I'm just poking fun, but I do think there is some validity there. I guess in all things there is a balance....maybe I'm the one who has gone out of balance...
Moving on.
I'm playing at church again. It's been years since I've played for a church and it feels nice to be apart of something again. I'm also in a Jazz combo with some friends and another group that is a bit bigger in size, like a peared down Jazz band. I hope I haven't overdone it.
Cars. Staring into that mechanical complexity gives me a headache, and my car has hit the age where everything starts going wrong. My driver side front window is now duct-taped up. No, not in honor of the hickory nut, "duct-tape-fixes-all" philosophy...but because the wire that pulleys the window up and down has snapped. This is the fourth one I've had to fix. Glory.
Some neat things I've stumbled upon:
Lala - like iTunes, but way better
Zenbe - all-in-one email/twitter/to do list/calendar/ etc. client
For now friends, I leave you with an inspiring look at my dog.
