It's no surprise that people long to connect with each other. If you ask Leah Ashton, the soulful-voiced singer/songwriter of Anderson, Indiana, music seems to be the most effective way to do so. This means that she'll bang on the piano, write expressive lyrics, and sing at the top of her lungs until she is heard by those searching for that common bond.
Leah, who has been singing since she could talk and playing piano since age 8, got her start performing at church and then moved on to playing in coffee shops, clubs, and other venues around the Akron area of Ohio. Coming from a musical family, she was raised on hymns/church music, jazz, classic rock, and Disney musicals. More recently, after heading to Anderson University to pursue a degree in music business, she played her songs in venues around central Indiana which gave her enough attention to be offered a deal with Orangehaus Records (under whom she released a self-titled EP in Dec 2007). She has been writing songs since a young age, but started taking songwriting more seriously in the past few years, aspiring to relate to others with what she has to say.
Leah wants her listeners to bond with her and each other through stories, shared life experiences, tears, laughter, joys, and sorrows that are best interpreted through song, letting people know that they aren't alone in this world. Her songs speak of love, faith, and self-discovery and she is hopeful that through the music, a connection will be made that brings people together no matter where in this world they may be.
