Avec "Le Son de l'Âme", la trompettiste virtuose Amy Horvey présente un programme intimiste comprenant des oeuvres anciennes et modernes dans un style transcendant et lyrique. Des oeuvres contemporaines inspirantes d'Arvo Pärt, Giacinto Scelsi, et de la compositrice Canadienne Anna Höstman sont présentées de pair avec des trésors du Baroque. Se crée alors un concert marquant ou l'on évoque l'aspiration de l'humain pour le divin - une musique éthérée pour transporter le public vers le son de l'âme.

BIO:
Surnommée "trompettiste divine" par l'ensemble Arraymusic de Toronto, Amy Horvey est une des jeunes
trompettistes les plus innovatrices et habiles du Canada. Avec une répertoire qui s'étend de Giuseppe Torelli à
Morton Feldman, ses performances révolutionnaires ont fait frémir des audiences en Europe et en Amérique du
Nord. Venant d'une famille Saskatchewanaise dévouée a la musique des cuivres, la fascination d'Amy pour la trompette la mène a étudier a l'Université de Victoria, à l'École Glenn Gould à Toronto, et au Conservatoire de Rotterdam.

Au cours des trois dernières années, elle s'est illustré avec plusieurs orchestres ou évènements (Festival International de Jazz de Vancouver, Holland Festival, Open Space Victoria New Music Series, Arraymusic, Soundstreams Canada, Orchestre du Centre National des Arts, l'Orchestre Symphonique de Thunder Bay (2005-2007), Netherlands Wind Ensemble, Kraakgeluiden Amsterdam). En 2006, Amy a fait une tournée canadienne avec son recital solo appelle "The Perspective of Disappearance" (La perspective de disparition), et a été invité par Dave Douglas comme soliste au Festival of New Trumpet Music à New York. Elle a composé des partitions originales pour plusieurs projets de danse avec la chorégraphe lithuanienne Agnija Sarulienne. Parmi les plus récents projets d'Amy, on retrouve "The Queen of the Music Boxes" (La Reine des Boîtes à Musique), une collaboration électronique vaudeville avec le compositeur Jeff Morton, et la 2007 Lucerne Festival Academy avec Pierre Boulez. En 2008, elle a fait une tournée d'Italie avec un recital solo de musique contemporaine.

In "The Sound of the Soul", virtuoso trumpetress Amy Horvey presents an intimate program combining ancient and modern works with a transcendental and lyric ambiance. Inspiring modern-day masterpieces by Arvo Pärt, Giacinto Scelsi, and Canadian composer Anna Höstman are presented side-by-side with gems of the Baroque, creating a unique concert evoking the human aspiration for the divine -ethereal music to transport audiences with the sound of the soul.

BIO:
Dubbed "Heaven's trumpeter" by the Toronto-based ensemble Arraymusic, Amy Horvey is one of Canada's most versatile and original emerging young trumpeters. With a repertoire ranging from Giuseppe Torelli to Morton Feldman, her innovative performances have thrilled audiences in Europe and North America. Born into a family of dedicated brass players in Saskatchewan, Amy's fascination with the trumpet led her to studies at the University of Victoria, the Glenn Gould School in Toronto, and the Rotterdam Conservatory.

In the last three years, her concert engagements have included the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Holland Festival, Open Space Victoria New Music Series, Arraymusic, Soundstreams Canada, National Arts Center/NAC Orchestra, Thunder Bay Symphony (2005-2007), Netherlands Wind Ensemble, and Kraakgeluiden Amsterdam. In 2006 Amy toured Canada with a solo recital entitled "The Perspective of Disappearance", and was invited by Dave Douglas to be a featured soloist at the Festival of New Trumpet Music in New York City. She has created original musical scores for several dance projects with Lithuanian choreographer Agnija Sarulienne. Amy's most recent projects include "The Queen of the Music Boxes", an electric vaudeville collaboration with composer Jeff Morton, and the 2007 Lucerne Festival Academy with Pierre Boulez. In May 2008, she toured Northern Italy with a program of contemporary music for solo trumpet.
