After releasing two successful indy hip-hop albums (''It's The L'' & ''Youth Is Yours'') and becoming one of the bigger names in the LA underground hiphop scene, Lexicon decided to step up, go beyond music genres and added live instruments to their music.
Calling upon for inspiration all of the rock and new wave music that blared from their dads speakers while they were growing up, Lexicon realized that by combining these elements with their deep knowledge of hip-hop they could express themselves the way they wanted to and in addition make music exciting again for all of those kids out there who have hip-hop and rock songs mixed together on their iTunes playlists.
The result is the new record, ''Rapstars'', the follow-up to critically acclaimed digital release ''The Rapstars EP'' that first featured the new Lexicon sound. Mixing their broad range of influences from the Beastie Boys to The Strokes to A Tribe Called Quest to The Police, brothers Gideon and Nick Black flawlessly flow their way through the rich music on this new record, resulting in wildly entertaining slice of life songs that are relatable to anyone. By spending their youth being schooled by the untouchable MCs of hip-hops golden age (1989-1994) and being force-fed the cutting-edge rock that their parents loved, the brothers have an inherent knack for wordplay and songwriting, resulting in vivid imagery and entertaining stories.Known for their extraordinarily energetic live shows and a genre-bending sound as sprawling as the city that shaped it, Lexicon, with "Rapstars" have supplied a soundtrack to life as it races by.

Fort du succès de deux premiers opus ("It's The L" et "Youth Is Yours") qui les ont classé parmi les incontournables de la scène hip-hop indépendante de Los Angeles, les Lexicon ont fait un pari, celui d'associer à leur énergie naturelle celle des guitares rock qui ont rythmé leur jeunesse. Nourris aux tubes de la bande FM et aux couplets acérés de leurs ainés MC californiens, les Lex' ont un but : filer à toute vitesse, mettre le feu à la scène, bousculer les formats.
Beastie Boys, The Strokes, A Tribe Called Quest, The Police...ce sont les noms qui viennent en tête quand on essaie de définir la musique de Lexicon. Cet éclectisme naturel est le fruit d'une histoire, celle de deux purs produits de la cité des anges. A L.A., les pieds dans l'une des scènes rap les plus exigeantes, techniques et talentueuses de la planète, et la tête dans les étoiles d'Hollywood, Nick & Gideon Black ont tout connu des courants qui s'interpénètrent dans cette fourmillère de talents.
Résultat : Lexicon fait la musique qui colle à une nouvelle génération urbaine et décomplexée, capable de passer d'un style à l'autre en un mouvement du pouce sur leur baladeur MP3. Le succès immédiat de la formule a donné au groupe l'occasion de multiplier concerts et shows télévisés, avec des hits comme "Junk Food" et "Big Money", et de se lancer dans la concrétisation d'un nouvel album avec à la production le bouillant C-Minus (Queen Of The Stone Age, Foo Fighters), accompagnés de guitaristes, bassistes et claviers.
L'aboutissement est détonant et porte un nom : Rapstars. Suite trés attendue du "Rapstars EP" sorti il y a quelques mois, l'album est la bande originale de la vie mouvementée de deux frères furieusement créatifs et doués, enchaînant les punchlines avec humour et dextérité.
