we had our first practice today after just about 2 months "off". i say off like that because since we finished recording our new album, there's just about a million and a half things that need to be done to make everything work as it should. we're still not all the way there... but we're a LOT closer than we were over the holidays. artwork is coming together, tours are being planned and booked, tour merch is being designed, posters are being printed. and so on.
jonny flew in from milwaukee last night so we could practice a few times before our gig in san diego this weekend. we're playin on campus at ucsd. and there's gonna be a DJ. i'm excited for it. considering we haven't played together in a while, we all came out of our practice room thinkin we sound better than ever. not to be cocky.. but we just call it like it is.
we're practicing at some space up in 'north huntington beach', which is a place i never really knew existed. it's all warehouse-y. but the practice room has a good vibe to it, and that's important. since it takes a lot of gas to go places in our big ol' van, i decided to leave it up there, and attempt to take the bus home after practice. i was 10 minutes late, so i woulda had to wait another hour and a half to catch the next one. instead, carolyn drove up and met us at fingerprints, and we caught some dinner at supermex.
jon wants the colts to win the superbowl. i want the bears. we were gonna call our new record "the bears", but we decided to make it "self-titled" instead. i'm hoping that when we do interviews for the new record people will ask us about the relevance of the whole "bears" thing, cuz there's a good answer for it. come to think of it, it's a MUCH better answer than the answer to "how did you get the name Limbeck?" it's funny cuz after being a band for quite a while now, we still get asked that question. is it really that thrilling of a question? not to me. so anyhow.. today i was sayin, "man, how cool would it have been if we called our new record "the bears", then the bears win the superbowl?" it would be like, FATE. heavy man. heavy. but since we didn't call it that, i guess we can't be disappointed if the bears lose. although i know they won't. take that jonny phillip.
