Earlier today I met the owner of John's Pizza Cafe in Saint Paul while working from a coffee shop that I like to frequent. We started talking about the plight of small businesses trying to compete with franchises and chains for a presence online. After viewing his website, I offered some advice to help his site to rank more competitively. We focused our discussion on one thing---creating unique title tags for each of the pages of his website. Because, like most small business owners, he doesn't know how to code his website, he asked me to write out the suggestions so that he would have something concrete to take to his webmaster. I told him that I would take the time to do that if he didn't mind my posting the email on our blog, so that other small business owners could benefit as well. No problem, was his reply.
