The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove is London city's answer to Prince. On stilts.
Shot through with the irristable schmaltz and tragedy of INXS in their heyday, he adheres to a similar world view and dress code to that of Patrick Bateman (American Psycho).
He brings his filofax onstage.
He has been described, by himself, as a 'wheezing clattering androgyne thrill'.
The songs themselves are a mixture of vacuous power pop and electronic anti-ballads with pepperings of industrial latin. This is the truth.
And this is also true... whilst still at an embryonic stage of live performance he has already recited at the Shoreditch 1234 free Festival and in London haunts like the 333, The Old Blue Last, The New Cross Inn and The Social. Although he hates playing live he is nonetheless always thrilling; sometimes a little hostile, sometimes a little lovely. He leaves some of his audience feeling cold, others confused and most feeling like dirty money.
Life is full of contradictions and so is The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove. This is the essence of life.
