No more planes

Flight back:
Left Portland on time and that flight was fine. In ATL that flight was delayed. Then delayed more, then more. Then we got to board, backed up, and then sat for 30 min. They made some announcement about a breaker box. Then we jerkily moved back towards the gate. Then there was an announcement that there was something wrong with the steering gears or something and we had to deplane and go to another gate to get on another plane. Well we had to wait for that plane to under go it's safety check and for them to move our baggage and then they let us get on the plane and we finally left- 3 hours late. I got into Tally at 3 am and I was vary very tired. Total travel time from the hotel to home: 14 hours. I don't want to fly anywhere any time soon unless I absolutely have to. I was delayed a total of 9 hours between the trip there and back. Nine hours is a long time to sit and wait for a plane.

Travel Adventures Part 2

So far it looks as if the flight out of here will be on time. That's cool. It's a long day none the less. I got up at 7 am to pack and check out of the hotel and catch the 8 am shuttle (which came at 8:20) to the conference center. There I had a little breakfast and waited on the airport shuttle. Then I rode 2 hours to the airport. Now I'm wasting 2.5 hours waiting for my plane to board/leave. Then I get to fly for 5 hours, transfer planes in ATL, and fly another hour to Tally. I'll get into Tally around midnight if everything goes as planed.

I greatly dislike flying. Not because I don't like to fly but because it involves hours of waiting to get on a plane. I also hate security. I had to show my ID to get my ticket. I had to take my boarding pass out of the holder and show and my ID to a lady who took like and entire minute to squint through her glasses and figure out that the name on the 2 was the same. I had to show my ID again a few feet later after I walked though the metal detector. Oh ya, that was also after I sorted my 1 carry on item into 3 different bins along with my shoes. Then I showed my ID again to get on the plane. All this doesn't make me feel safe. It just makes me feel cross.

On the brighter side, PDX has free wireless internet.

Traveling Adventures

What a better way to spend my time than make a blog post. For the record I dislike the word "blog." It make me think of "bog" which just seems unpleasant. Anyway I'm going to Corvallis, OR for a virus conference and my flight was delayed from leaving at 9:15 till 12:11. That has now been delayed until 1:30. My conecting flight had to be changed and instead of arriving at 1:15 if everything from here on out goes smoothly I'll arrive at 6:30 pm. I'll miss the reception/dinner thing tonight. Hopefully I have a way from the airport to Corvallis.
