In 2001, Filippo (guitar, sound effects) decided that he wanted to try something new: being part of a band worthy of serious respect. Christian (bass) and Nicola (drums) responded to the call. Since they were unable to find a qualified lead singer, Christian tried out the dual roles of singer and bassist, which worked out--and remains to this day.
Mid 2002 brought their first public concerts. The trio marketed themselves as a grunge band, but one that never leaves the realms of tonality. Over time, the band began to develop its own voice and its own sound.
Months later, as a result of some internal problems, Massimo (drums) replaced Nicola. The band changed both its name and its genre, with 70s rock becoming their main influence.
In 2003 the band self-produced a demo called MALVENA EP. The psychedelic rock sound remained, and melody has continued to play a central part in their music. Spring 2004's entrance of Francesca (cello) was right in line with the change of direction.
The newly-formed quartet enabled new sounds, new instruments, showboating and improvization, which consequently led to longer tracks.
In November 2004 they released their second "mini-album" titled L'ATTESA...NELLA POVERE.
In the spring of 2005, the winds changed, and Francesca left the band as if she were never there. Malvena did not lose heart, and they continued their pursuit of musical learning and exploration. In August, the band released COME SE PIOVESSE EP. With this project, the trio's sound developed a certain intimacy, a "quasi-minimalism," more bare-bones quality. Their arrangements became more raw and stark, yet with a lighter sound than in the past. Former drummer Nicola rejoined the band, and many agreed that it was a great fit.
When the tides turned yet again, almost a year after the last EP, Massimo decided to leave the band. In September 2006 Maurizio steps inside the project with his drums and his experimental idea. It's a rebirth for the band that starts to play new instrumental songs.
In May 2007, the band produce a new album, [...per tratti inseparabili.], wich represents a new change of style. Drops of noise.
