On a separate, typeface development note, Typotheque lists the current version design of all of their faces. I have thought of this as well. They make note of the transition of typefaces from hardware to software, which is an obvious distinction that should be recognized. I have long planned on having my Manifold Type Foundry faces in a constant state of revision/updates. If major changes are made to standard faces, I plan to inform purchasers of those changes and send them the revised version of their purchased typeface files. Software companies are expected to this, why not type designers as well? If I create an italic version of a face, I won't be handing it out to purchasers of the Roman weight, but if I update and correct kerning in the Roman weight, why not get it out there so that my customers are using the best version of my product? It's my name on that face, I want it to be the best version.
