I create music since
about 15 years (more or less). My favourite tool were always
trackers. Before that, I was teached to play the piano and to hit
the drums. I learned that in school. I had so much fun with that,
so I forced my parents to order a keyboard from Santa.
My parents hated me for that keyboard. First of all, my
playing was really shitty and the other cause for the hatred was
that the keyboard (shs 10 by yamaha) had "Last Christmas" by
WHAM! as the demosong.
So, as I couldn't play- the keyboard had to play this annoying
song 23 hours a day...
Later, I discovered a "Midi-Plug" at the SHS 10 and that was
the beginning....
My first real computer was an AMIGA 500. That thing really
rocked. I played Giana Sisters from dusk till dawn and saved the
world by playing turrican. Somehow, I found a disk on which
"ProTracker" was installed. I checked it and I was astonished -
MUSIC SOFTWARE!!!
In 1990 my parents an me moved to another town. In that town I
met other musicians and we created a "demogroup". We even had a
distrosite :) The group was called MiRAGE SP...
Every smart man did something really dumb in his life. My
biggest fault was to sell my Amiga and to buy a Super NES. For a
year I could not create any song. But later I bought my first
IBM-compatible PC (486DX2-66) with a really cool Gravis
Ultrasound-Card. The best software I ever used was X-Tracker by
D-Lusion.
The dark side (Microsoft) decided to make all PCs slow as
hell, because they invented Windows. XT and my GUS refused to run
and so I had to buy a faster PC (Cyrix 200 mHz /Sb16 pnp). While
playing around in the DOS-Mode of Windows95 I learned to love
Fasttracker II
While playing around in Windows, I got in touch with
Cubase...
But I stayed in the Tracker-Scene because even tracking is
more complicated than using a "normal" sequencer the
opportunities modifying the sounds are unbeatable in a
tracker...
So- Me and FT2 were a happy couple until the dark side decided
to make the world better again. Windows XP came and my PC was too
slow again. The DOS-Mode was history. I learned MODPLUG...
Modplug had a weird UI - there was NOTHING like FT or Impulse
and so I had to restart all my knowledge ;)
Now, we have RENOISE. The rest is history
