About

Mark Lazeski is best known for his work as a songwriter, bassist, and vocalist with Vancouver-based rock veterans Retrograde. He has been a strong and influential voice in the writing, arranging, and producing of their music since joining the band in 2001. As well as releasing two full-length albums and a double album of b-sides, Retrograde has toured relentlessly over the years playing in Canada's premier live music venues and festivals. They have had the opportunity to perform in direct support of some of the nations biggest acts such as The Tea Party, Big Wreck, Default, Bif Naked, Theory of a Deadman, I Mother Earth, The Headstones and Wide Mouth Mason. The band also performed at some of Canada's biggest music festivals including Alberta's "Stage 13" festival, Saskatchewan's "Rock'N The Valley" and Molson's "SnowJam" here in Vancouver with the likes of The Tragically Hip, 3 Doors Down, Third Eye Blind, Our Lady Peace, Nickelback, Pennywise, Finger Eleven, and many more.

Since 2001, Lazeski has also worked as a songwriter, producer, musician and engineer in the Vancouver-based electronica duo Transientworld. This eclectic music production team, co-founded by songwriter, pianist, vocalist and producer Mary Ancheta, released a full-length album entitled "All Things Transient" in 2004 and has built up a wide-ranging library of both instrumental and non-instrumental compositions. Transientworld's versatile and accessible music has caught the attention of the film and television industry and has subsequently found its way onto a variety of major network television programs including The L Word: Seasons 1
and 2 (Showcase), Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Bravo), America's Next Top Model, Godiva's (Bravo), The Dead Zone, Dark Oracle (YTV), ESPN Offshore Adventures, Cold Squad, Word Travels (ABC), Dirt (FX Series), Blood Ties, Jane Show and many others. Transientworld also found themselves winners of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in the electronic genre for two consecutive years in 2002 and 2003. This prestigious contest had over 250,000 entries form around the world and was judged by industry professionals and music greats such as Bjork, Wyclef Jean and Meshell to name a few.

Lazeski's latest studio work can be heard on a new project called Last Night Soundtrack in which he undertakes the roles of writer, engineer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Many of Last Night Soundtrack's new songs feature different guest musicians from the Vancouver music scene (Tim Tweedale, Jon Wood, Chris Young, John Bews and Trevor Grant to name a few) who help to bring different moods and characteristics to each track.

Mark Lazeski is first and foremost a songwriter with an ear for recording and music production. His audio background and experience combined with his talents as a performer and collaborator have allowed him to make an impact in many facets of the music industry.
