Wonder

"Christmas renews our youth by stirring our wonder. The capacity for wonder has been called our most pregnant human faculty, for in it are born our art, our science, our religion." Ralph W. Sockman

Christmas is coming soon, and it always brings back memories of our childhood. It also reminds us of the fact that the greatest gift of Christmas really wasn't the stuff we got, but the sense of wonder and awe that we had leading up to Christmas day. The gift of hope in something, or someone, wonderful who would hear our whispers in the night of what we really "wanted more than anything else" under the tree. Do you remember that?

Wonder is a gift that every child enters the world with, but that the cares of the world and of life can be allowed to steal. Guarding the wonder of your heart should be viewed the same as guarding life's most precious possession. Without it we become callous and synical. Our senses become dulled by a lack of hope and inspiration. We stop creating, because we don't see the point anymore. We lose our ability to see the beauty, the wonder, the awe of all creation around us.

Romans 1:20 says, "By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can't see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse."

Look around you today and dare to see through the eyes of wonder. Let your senses be filled with the awe of God's creation. Allow your spirit to hope again in someone greater than yourself; someone who will never disappoint. Be inspired again! Let your heart be filled with wonder.
