Should this section be written in the third person, in the name of professionalism? Or should it be just be honest and unpretentious...
...because yeah, it's just me writing this.
It would appear that I've answered my own question. Whelp, there's no going back now.
I've been playing guitar for about 11 years, writing songs for about 5, and I've been trying to sing... for awhile now.
99.9% of my music is inspired by metaphor, by the feeling that everything is connected. Writing lyrics, for me, is like following the stitches on a baseball. No, I don't spend much of my time doing exactly that; allow me the illustration. At first glance, it's not apparent that the stitches connect at all, but as you follow them, you begin to get that feeling of "I think I've been here before". Not in a ho-hum, disenchanting sort of way, but in a way that feels like coming home: all within an idea. And if that one idea should happen to be True (that is, free of denial, pretense, or prejudiced hyperbole) it hovers at the port of eternity, waiting to take you deeper into the sphere of that which is Universally True.
If I just totally lost you, please forgive me. I promise never to sacrifice our relationship for my insatiable pursuit of deeper awareness. If you're totally tracking with me, well, cool... we should hang out more. : )
I love beautiful music. I'm not a huge fan of rock, but I do play in a rock band right now - a rock band that happens to make beautiful music (a band called Hendrick, by the by).
I hope you're encouraged by my music.
Thanks,
matthew

matthew!
I love you, too. Especially because of Virb.
And I'm moving back to Dallas this summer. So we should be friends. Aren't you leaving to another country soon? That might hurt our friendship.
The Walla Recovery, Mar 24, 2008:
thanks for your kind words! blessings...
