Microblogging seems to be unbelievably trendy recently, with services like Twitter and Jaiku taking off in popularity. With the medium being so young, different sites are trying different methods. Twitter keeps it simple, just asking what you're doing in 144 characters. Jaiku complicates it a bit allow users to import feeds, select icons with posts, and comment on every post.
So what's the way to go? My thoughts are this: Automating microblogging destroys the medium. While the idea of importing your feeds may sounds pretty, a way to cram everything you do into one place, I'd say that RSS readers already exist and are popular for a reason. Don't complicate the beautiful simplicity that is microblogging. The reason Twitter is great, is that it strips away the artificiality and formality that a blog can bring, to the organic. With microblogging, you don't have to think about editing yourself, it can be reactionary and stream of consciousness. It can be your natural voice. Naturalogging?
My point is simply, if you're going to use a medium, use it for it's advantages. Don't turn yourself into a bot. Be creative!
