megaphone is a four-piece rock band from Orlando, FL. Their sound is unashamed, in-your-face guitar rock with hooks that stick to the side of your head. "If the Foo Fighters beat up Butch Walker while listening to your favorite band, that's what we sound like!" says front man Matt Bloodwell.

megaphone formed in early 2004 when Matt Bloodwell (former drummer for the well-known Orlando band Precious) put down his sticks, picked up a guitar, and enlisted some of his favorite players in town: Paul Smith (former touring guitarist for Seven Mary Three - Mammoth/Atlantic, and VonRay - Electra), James Woodrich (former bassist for My Hotel Year - Doghouse Records) and Scott Smith (former drummer for Cori Yarckin.) "I wanted to put together a real rock band with big guitars and big hooks," Matt explains. "From the beginning, the emphasis has always been on the song. The idea is for you to leave the show still singing the songs you just heard."

The band released its first full length CD, "for cryin' out loud," on April 15, 2005. With the momentum of the new release, as well as being considered somewhat of an Orlando music scene super-group, they quickly landed some pretty high-profile gigs, opening for national acts Paul Stanley & Ace Frehley of Kiss, Seven Mary Three, Everclear, Edwin McCain, VonRay, The BoDeans and The New Left. They have also made appearances at WJRR 101.1's Earthday Birthday 12 & 14, and the 2005, 2007, and 2008 Florida Music Festival Main Stage. They continue to perform extensively throughout Florida.

megaphone has had airplay on several Central Florida radio stations, including WJRR 101.1, O-Rock 105.9, WHOG 97.5, and Rollins College Radio 91.5. One of megaphone's most popular songs, "Not Your Enemy," spent a few weeks in the Top 10 Most Played Songs on XM Radio Unsigned (channel 52). megaphone has also been featured in podcasts around the world and two of their songs, "Not Your Enemy" and "Stain," remain the Top 2 most listened to rock tracks on the podcast-friendly website, PODSAFEAUDIO.COM. They have also had songs featured on the MTV show, Made.

The Orlando Weekly Magazine’s Best of Orlando Reader’s Poll named megaphone Best Rock/Pop Act in 2007 & 2008. megaphone was also the 2008 winner of the Rock Pink Battle of the Bands, a year long competition series benefiting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. megaphone released an Apple iTunes exclusive Christmas EP, "the Perfect Gift," in late 2008. Currently, megaphone is finishing up their 2nd full length release. This much anticipated CD is being co-produced by Matt Bloodwell and Justin O'Neill and is scheduled to be mixed by Pete Thornton (Paramore, Shinedown, National Product). The as-of-now untitled CD is planned for release in April 2009.
