One evening a friend of mine asked if I would like to attend "da club." Now it must be stated that "da club," while fascinating to me, had never quite made it into my life as a legitimate activity. But I thought "this will be fun! why not!?" So, off to "da club" we go. While we are standing around at "da club" a girl approaches my friend and myself and I am promptly introduced by my ambassador to said club. My friend apparently wanted to do some serious PR because as I was introduced as follows: "This is Micah, he keeps it real."
This through me for a loop. I got nervous. While I would very much like to "keep it real," I'm in a new environment, I haven't quite appraised what "keeping it real" would mean to my new acquaintence. Looking to avoid any outlandish expectations of how I "keep it" I informed my new friend that "I keep it awkward."
What happened next is as hysterical as it is perposterous. The girl explains to me through slurred words that she "likes it awkward" and pulls me toward her by my shirt. Now, I'm not sure how most people naturally react to being suddenly pushed or pulled, but I for one had to re align my footing, lest I fall on the confusing person who jostled me. Unfortunately, in doing so I seemed to place my foot on top of hers to which she said "you asshole you stepped on my foot!"
To which I replied; "I told you?"
I like to make pictures and i like the seahawks.
I work for both Coal Headwear and Union Binding Company making graphics. Those graphics go on hats, paper, snowboarding bindings--pretty much whatever.
My horrifically old graphic design portfolio lives at micahmicah.net I will update it soon with work that doesn't make me cringe.

Finished?: The colors are looking weird since I shot this at like 1250 iso with no flash under tungsten lights, but whatevz. It's taking every ounce of my being to not re do the entire thing in illustrator. Or at least with good gouache...

Painting continues: Starting to come together. Still sloppier than I'd like it to be, but we'll see how it works out. I'm excited to be pushed to do something I wouldn't normally do.

Natural High: my hilarious dorm room poster. I thought that since I'm living in a dorm, i should decorate it appropriately.

Painting begins: Starting to paint the Depth exercise. washed out and repainting both buildings several times. It's a difficult transition from being able to choose color combinations with a few clicks to having to mix paint. I'm used to changing swatches, not re painting. It gives me a huge appreciation for color stories in paintings that are very well crafted. I'm not sure I'll have time to take this piece to the level it deserves, but it's a good exercise regardless.

Depth.: For "design" we're working on using depth with color and line. This is going to be painted in gouache. The lines are extremely light and I did my best to darken them up quickly. View full size to get a better sense of what the project is going to be
