Many albums and songs I've been listening to remind me of times long past and I know it's only because I listened to those albums and songs many times over when the events I am reminded of took place.
Hey Hey My My Yo Yo! from Junior Senior reminds me of late February 2008 and starting work at ServiceMaster of Kalamazoo. It also reminds me of Britainy and sometimes Caitlin.
The Con from Tegan and Sara reminds me of Britainy more than anything. I just started listening the hell out of it in February/March 2008 and that's when we kind of had a little something.
Elephant Shell from Tokyo Police Club reminds me of the summer, living at the Oakhurst house. Driving down the streets in my Jetta, feeling good. Oh and nights at the Surgery Center with my iPhone and its headphones. Some of those times with Caitlin.
Oracular Spectacular from MGMT reminds me of Chicago, and the summertime. It also gave me my first feelings of invulnerability, blasting "Time to Pretend" on the late night drive home after a shift at the Surgery Center.
Evil Urges from My Morning Jacket reminds me of sometimes I had working at the Surgery Center. I am also heavily reminded of summer nights and the summertime scene. Sometimes it reminds me of Caitlin, as well. They are one of the absolute greatest bands to ever see live. I saw them with Caitlin at the Fillmore in Detroit last fall. So damn good. Caitlin didn't want to go but left with a newfound appreciation of the band, even if it was a very low level of appreciation.
Bring On the Comets from VHS or Beta reminds me of my first fall in Kalamazoo. The fall when it all started coming to an end, right before I left for the army.
