Disappointing

I've had the chance to get well acquainted with Windows Vista from using the computer I've built my sister and all I can say is it is the biggest disappointment I've ever had to face in the whole computing world. First of all, Microsoft has had years of development and still the driver support is horrid. I even had to search the internet to find the nvidia driver we needed for the on board graphics processor and at times the screen will go blank and Vista said the driver "stops responding," when it finally returns to show me where I was before it blanks. To me, Vista is even harder to use than XP and even more harder to configure anything one may wish to configure that one could easily do so with XP and take 5-10 minutes longer with Vista. I looked around for ten minutes trying to find out how to make the desktop icons smaller and still to this day I have no idea how to do that.

It appears Microsoft is still following a dream of being as aesthetically pleasing as Mac OS X. They fail at that, as always, and fail at actually making a smooth and decent operating system. The busy cursor is even in a circular shape like a Mac, except there is a hole through it. Windows calls their widgets, "gadgets." You can't do anything without the screen fading to a darker image and a dialog window pops up asking if you wish to "Cancel" or "Allow." Seriously, it's just like that Mac commercial, honest to God, not to mention so much older software isn't compatible and has issues with Vista when Microsoft had the time to make so many things work so much better.

Microsoft still doesn't know what they are doing after all these years, and Apple is leaving them in the dust.
