About

At its most powerful, music transcends barriers, uniting people who on the surface may seem to have little in common. Such is the case with Miguel Campal, an Uruguayan musician who gives everything for his music. On his new album "Espiral", composed, played and recorded by the artist at his home studio, one can hear and feel in a very easy way the emotion and life on his music. With clear messages, vocal harmonies, and very original contemporary compositions, this album is a roller-coaster of emotions that gets into the listener. An old school record, with today sound, and tomorrow ideas.

Miguel Campal started his music career in a serious way at the age of 14, studying classical guitar at the Music University. At the age of 15 he starts recording some covers and original songs with one of his two brothers in a really rudimentary way in his basement. Those tracks saw the light when friends and close people felt its potential and demanded live performances. At first shows where performed with acoustic guitars and vocals, but evolved into an electronic set, with computers, keyboards, guitars and really wired stuff.

After every presentation, Miguel was asked to be part of different bands, such is the case of Duchamp, Electric kool Aid, and lots of non conformed bands, playing keyboards, or guitar. At this point, he decides that the academic music it`s not what he wants to do for the rest of his life, so at the age of 19, quits the studies and his work on a music academy to dedicate fully to rock music. Then is when he joined "Grubb", an explosive funk rock band, that changes his way of playing and feeling music.

Convinced of making his own way in music, he recorded two singles in his basement and managed to get and learn what it takes to make a really good album. He spends 3 full moths, day and night at his studio, recording and producing every little detail in a very human way. Being the album recorded this way, there's no intermediary between the idea and the final product. With the master on his hands, is decided to get as far as possible with it, spreading his word through the internet and with help of local musicians.
