And so begins the most obsered of all traditions - decorating a plastic conifer in the livingroom. This makes no sense, none at all.

About

In June 2006 my wife Christa, my 3 month old son Titus, our golden retriever Lucy and I moved to Loon Lake, Indiana. We live in an old orchard farm that was owned by the Wolfe family until recently when it was bought by my dad who fixed up the house. I got to help him work on it a little and fell in love with the property. We convinced him to sell it to us and, well, we can't believe we get to live here!
Now, there's still a lot to be done. We want to turn this place back into a farm but I just started my own business and money is really tight. Our goal is to have a mini farm with chickens for eggs and meat, goats for milk, cheese and yogurt, and maybe some ducks. Oh, and you can't forget the summer garden! Last summer we canned everything we could but this year we're really going all out! We'll probably add other things as time goes by but that's what we want to start with.
Anyway, this blog will sort of chronicle what we're doing. I'm hoping to keep a regular journal of what we have done and what's happening to build our little community. Please forgive the shameless plugs for money, I'm working hard to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. This mini farm thing is on the side, and any help we can get is great. If you want to "buy us a coffee" we really appreciate (actually it'll probably go toward a goat or something).

4 hours of sleep and hundreds of kids = crazy!

I went with Pete Bray to the school he teaches at and shadowed him. It's turned out to be a lot of fun! The kids were great and really seemed to enjoy learning (for the most part), and they were well behaved. I think I might just pursue this sub-teaching thing. We will …

Shuffle Board and onions

This was Christa and I's second time there, and Pete and Julie's first. I think they enjoyed it too.
After that we went out to eat at an old place down town FW called Cony Island. It's a little hot dog joint that's been around FOREVER. It was my first time there and …
