Biography (short)
Misanthrop was born in 1979, when the first official rap records were published. About ten years later he found his interests in music and especially rap music - like a lot of people from his generation - while listening to Public Enemy et al. In 1993 he started buying, collecting and (mis)using records. He literally started from scratch - for example he built his own transform switches. In 1995 the first lyrics followed as he was very unsatisfied with German rap at this time.
After some years of group activities - mainly with his group Boarshill No. 1 - he started releasing solo tracks without any compromises. Having a fondness for theme-oriented works, Misanthrop wrote and produced various albums dealing with the same topic or following a certain dogma. His lastest release is the CD "Aphrodismen" (a word-play from aphorisms and aphrodisiac) on Audiac Records.
Misanthrop's songs deal with love, (inner) life, death, music and politics. Misanthrop mainly orientates with american underground rap like it can be heard on labels like Anticon, Galapagos 4, Project Blowed or Rhymesayers. The philosophical German lyrics are sophisticated and often spiced with sarcasm and irony. The felicitous synthesis of music and literature, often live presented by Misanthrop, is a challenge to all usual stereotypes of the genre.
Misanthrop loves cooperating with other German abstract mcs, djs and producers like 88:Komaflash, Audio88, DJ Phonatic and DJ Scientist.
