This was written specially for the Crumpsall Comets Concert Band, the sort of band that had it's heyday in the 1930's - 1960's and could well die out in the near future. It was written to be performed by the Comets at the annual Crumpsall Carnival and Fun Day event in 2003. They were very nice to me, being more used to playing famous film themes and well-known pieces from WW2. This is the only recording, made on a mini-disc recorder somewhere by the band director's knee! although it is not a good performance or recording, it marks the culmination of a year's work writing and re-drafting the piece with the help of the players and the director.
