i moved to dayton about a year ago to try my hand at the music thing with a good friend. i play drumset and a little bit of djembe, and love every second of it. i'm also into photography. i like going on drives to nowhere and back, just to find out what's out there. i am an individual, think for myself, and don't follow the crowd just because it's the crowd. i'm always seeking to hear the deeper and darker thoughts and realities of this life. they intrigue me and motivate me to some sort of unknown resolution. i like symmetry and simplicity. talk to me and i'll listen, i just ask you do the same for me.

no luck is better than my luck

i'm back in town. she's back in town. now it seems like time has disappeared for both of us. stupid work is killing my social life. i can't ever seem to get the time to be around her. to be with her. and definitely no time to know her. why does this happen. something that i want is right there and for once wants me in return, but it still doesn't work out. tis my luck. why is my luck this way?

for some reason house seems to always provoke thoughts in my own life. in the last episode i saw there was a genius that was robotripping in order to dumb himself down just so he could enjoy life. does intelligence really make people unhappy? or is it just overthinking? in a few stories now i've noticed that the incredibly intelligent often don't have great personal lives. for one house. this episode reminded me that he had a pretty hefty iq. and so did this patient. all sorts of great and lofty accomplishments by the time he was 18. but he wasn't happy. not until he became simple was he able to take joy in life. is this why people self medicate sometimes? the complexities of life get them down so they simplify, and it all falls into place. are substances really the answer or should it be more of a conscious effort to simplify ones life. i know i am definitely an advocate of simplicity and try to live a simple life to avoid any unneccesary strife and annoyances. they still come, but i'd like to think they are fewer than if i tried to live complexly.

and now i'm faced with the thought, maybe this whole blaming discontent on the complexity of life is looking in the wrong area. maybe the cause is something totally different and unrelated. i don't know. i wish i did though.

i do think that something has definitely changed in society. hard to put a finger on exactly what. it's probably a combination of too many factors to consider, but life seems like it used to be so much simpler. in my parents' generation it seemed that there were more people that were settled into their lives by their mid 20s than there are now. people seem to be getting married later and later, if at all. people are switching careers multiple times in their lifetimes. whatever happened to the simple days...

i recently ran into a bit of hope. met a young psych major and just that intrigues, fascinates, and intimidates me. i think she may be as interested in figuring out people as i am. but she probably has a bit more training and guidance in the ways to do so. talking to her is so natural, and i'm thinkin that we might have enough similarities and differences to make things interesting. can't wait to see how this turns out. it's heading in a good direction already and at a good respectable pace as well.

this is nice.
and it's about time.
