About

Mode7 is the ongoing solo music project of Sean Bailey. It all began in Prescott, AZ in 1998 when Sean bought a modded TR-606 drum machine on ebay and started experimenting. The sudden lust for electronic gear led to a Yamaha SU-10 sampler, a Sequential Circuits TOM drum machine, an AKAI s2000 sampler, and a Roland MC-50 MIDI sequencer. By 2000, sean was experimenting with full on production. He released 2 songs on the 2001 Music for Retards Compilation 'Kato 2000', under the pseudonyms Mode Seven and EPROM 666 (defunct). By 2002, it was shortened to just Mode7 and due to countless sampler crashes and a need for more musical flexibility, sean got a laptop and started messing around. "Excitebike" and Every Night is Friday, 1984" were the first tracks completed utilizing this freedom. Sean would sit in alleyways, on fire escapes, on park benches and out in nature for as long as the battery lasted, obsessively refining his style. Four years and another laptop later, the result is what you hear now. Enjoy!

"It's like falling in love in fast forward. it's like having a mission. it's like your life depends on it. like earth depends on you. the music purging out from the soundsmith's hand (aka mode 7, aka sean) are like the motives of God handed to unweary disciples ready to initiate the greatest task of their lives, and fortunate enough to be endowed by god, the soundtrack to do so. mode 7 is that sound. the rhythem of purpose as well as the breach of one's barriers, becoming something bigger with the few tools one may have. "power junkie" clearly displays this in throwing more bass at the listener than one might even know to deal. the simplicity is the disguise to the greater talents of both composure and force. the very same found in a child at an air show, or watching fireworks for the first time. mode 7. do not underestimate!" -Dylan Tranchant, AKA Hexagon AKA Argosm AKA Fn4ke

Trying this thing out...

Thanks everyone for checking out my page! I'm going to try to use this one for music more than my myspace page if at all possible, so check here first for updates, new songs, etc. As far as new stuff goes, well, I have a broken headphone jack on my laptop, so no more …
