Electronic Behavior Control System

This video is from a group called EBN, or Emergency Broadcast Network. The main dude in the group (and video) is Jack Dangers, who some may be aware of via Meat Beat Manifesto.

The great thing about this cd is that when it came out in August of 1995 is that this …

Des Croches et la Lune

Man, what a trip. Between the amazing canyons and plateaus of the Aveyron region, the absolute drunkeness and music of Des Croches et la Lune, and the Templar, medieval and practically prehistoric castles througout the Grandes Causses Noirs, it was definitely a fun …

Back from camp

Some very cool stuff on the way, but for now, a lazy Sunday afternoon at the Festival des Croches et la Lune..

Last post for a few days

Going on a little trip for the next ten days, down south a little bit to do some camping, see some Templar sites, and watch Roquefort cheese being made.

I took this first picture with the sunglasses in there to give it a sense of scale, but I don't think it truly …

Strawberry Clafoutis

So, one day we pick up some strawberries at the market. These are solely intended, from my perspective anyway, for my chocolate laced granola cereal that was the subject of what I believe was my very first post on this here Virb thing. Its a damn fine way to start …

Cool site

Found this from a Radar Online story, and checked out the site and came across some interesting things.

Like the class action suit against the US government failing to explain why WTC7 collapsed.

Sunset in the Dordogne redux

I am still working on the right angle for getting this bridge, but here are a couple that turned out ok.

The 'hood

Thought I would put together a little series of images for those (both) of you that are interested in where I am living now.

The neighborhood is called La Madeleine, and its the smaller old portion of Bergerac on the south side of the Dordogne river. Here is a map …

Marché Nocturne pics

We went to the Marché Nocturne again last night and remembered the camera this time.

One of the best things about this event is the mix of people; young and old, foreigners and french, peasantry and the affluent. Its a lot of fun.

The wine stand, each …

Afternoon delight

This is Hélène's idea of a little snack before the Marché Nocturne tonight (where large amounts of dead cow will be devoured, pictures tomorrow)-

Pretty cool, a little free street show maybe 50 meters from home.

Oil

Ok, so tonight I just had the most random thought about oil. Global warming, blah blah, climate change, blah blah.

Why is the impact of removing such large quantities of liquid from the Earth's crust never mentioned?

Think about it- oil is more dense than water …

Market food

Just a quick little food post, this time about pre-prepared stuff you can get at the market.

The Saturday market (the smaller one on Wednesday too, for that matter) is actually split between two areas of town. One area encircles the Bergerac version of Notre Dame, …

The American Nightmare

One of the most disturbing quotes in this story 'Meanwhile in the Pacific war zone, working on the assumption that the only good Jap was a dead one, Admiral William Halsey of the US Navy urged his men to make 'monkey meat' out of the Japanese, and demanded that any …

Sunset in the Dordogne

From our terrace-

After a quick run down to the far side of the bridge-

The name of the boat closest to the camera is the 'Carpe Diem'...

Google OS

I've been playing around with various flavors of free versions of Linux (ie, non-Redhat, SUSE, etc versions) lately.

Mostly Kubuntu, and recently Ubuntu (since Dell is shipping it now) and today I am downloading Debian (which, from my understanding, is the base of …

In-n- Out

In-n-Out burgers, what McDonald's was probably like before becoming McGloboCorp. Notice the similarities in the sign-

For those living outside of California, Nevada and Arizona, you don't get the opportunity to have In-n-Out burgers; its still family owned so their expansion has remained exclusively in the West. This is largely due to all of their ingredients being delivered fresh every day- no frozen meat or fries, no prepackaged lettuce.

The menu is limited- burgers, cheesburgers and double burgers and cheesburgers. There is literally like four items on the 'burgers' side of the menu, no onion rings, no curly fries, in other words, just what you came for- a burger and fries.

That being said, there are more ways to have a burger there than just the standard burger, but none of it is on the 'menu'. Its on the not-so-secret 'secret' menu. There is the 3x3 and the 4x4, which indicates the number of burgers and pieces of cheese (which, in hindsight, I am a little disappointed I never tried), along with the protein style (no bun, burger wrapped in a lettuce leaf) and my personal favorite, Animal style.

But first, some other 'improvements' from In and Out-

Since In-n-Out is so popular, the whole moving the call box for the drive through back to the rear of the building doesn't really work anymore. Most locations have lines that extend far beyond the call box.

So, In-n-Out sends someone out to the car line to take your order, and even extends the line with 'cones' (because people are idiots and don't …
