We recently did the two week after Christmas Christmas thing with Helene's family. Pretty fun, and pretty funny too- both Helene's mom and aunt gave me some homemade chocolates, all tyes of creams, and nougats and all of it really tasty. They didn't give her any! She did get some good loot tho.
On Sunday, we headed over to her Uncle Yves and Aunt Christine's, Helene's mom's sister, for lunch. Un lapin a la moutard was on the menu, which is rabbit in a brown mustard sauce, I'm guessing Dijon. Didn't get any pics of it, which is a shame because it was delicious.
Helene's whole family is nurses; Uncle Yves, all Mom's sisters, one of Helenes as well. Uncle Yves has been retired for a while now, so he does a lot of gardening. That worked out pretty well for us, actually.
After lunch, we headed out to the garden to take home some veggies. Uncle Yves is a full grown adult man, so check out this size of this carrot-
A few more for reference-
Some leeks and brussels sprouts-
And some cabbage-
All in all it was a pretty good haul.
But that wasn't all that Uncle Yves had going on in his garden....
