Just a few images from the garden-
The last one isn't from our garden but from the forest near where Helene used to live, a little village called Montclard. Those are Girolles mushrooms, and you can find them wild in the forest that surrounds Montclard. They are supposed to be pretty expensive, so I just did a quick check and found them on a website where you can order fresh wild mushrooms, and in fact they were the second most expensive one at about $13.00 for 5 oz. Taste great too! These were picked by some friends, and I should actually post some pics of their gites (B&B), because it was built in the 1850's New Orleans style, and has a couple of Redwoods in the back yard which I find fundamentally bizarre yet incredibly ironic. Not to mention pretty cool, since they aren't so small at 150 yrs old.
The strawberries from our garden are probably not going to get all that great this first year. But we've got several plants in, and some raspberries too, so next spring should be pretty dope. Apparently, the zucchini's are really taking off, and there are some tomatoes, various herbs, and even a pumpkin. The garden is Helene's territory, which means that other than the flowers which were already here, she put all that stuff in. Can't wait to see what she does with the pumpkin!
