About

In late 2005, Monster America set out to capture a rock 'n' roll audience with a dirty, guttural and sophisticated sound. Barely a year later, you could say they've far exceeded their expectations... developing an astonishing 3-hour live set, selling over 500 CDs and playing over 40 shows... everywhere from major resorts and festivals to legendary rock clubs and university cafes. From their beginnings as a modest studio project, Monster America got an unexpected boost in 2004 when radio stations in Toronto and Vancouver featured the single 'Cut' from their debut EP. Garnering the attention of the media, the EP also caught the ears of bassist and songwriter Andrew Busby. Working with an array of different drummers, the pair quickly set to work... fusing heavy Kravitz-esque grooves, thick guitar riffs and bombastic arrangements. They set out to create something original yet comfortably familiar; something that combined the mystery of the Doors with the groove of Lenny Kravitz; something with the feel of The Cult and the modern edge of Audioslave; In short, something that would dazzle even the most discriminating live rock 'n' roll audience. An oddity amongst most modern live rock 'n' roll acts, Monster America have the talent, material and presence to capture audiences in both expected and unexpected places. In fact, few bands can play one night at a downtown Toronto club followed by a nasty rural roadhouse... at least, not without going bankrupt or getting killed. Beyond their unique sound, what separates Monster America as a true live rock 'n' roll experience is their committment to performance, power, artistry and depth. Heavy but not overbearing, deep but not pretentious, dirty but not sleazy, and commercial without being cheap... Monster America have built an EXPANSIVE & MEMORABLE ROCK 'N' ROLL SHOW. Connecting with an astonishing array of crowds, their music finds a unique home on every stage they play. Live epics like 'Everyone Else' ebb and flow with incredible dynamics, irresistable grooves and bombastic jams. Singles like 'Breakdown' and 'Stray' take shades of The Cult and Neil Young into a sonic head-on collision with the sounds of Audioslave, Big Wreck and The Black Crowes. Monster America recently unveiled a limited-edition pre-release EP of their upcoming album 'Pocketful of Diamonds.' They also added drummer Mike Cormier to the fold in March 2007. Please stay tuned for further announcements.

"We all admire the spangled acrobat with classical grace meticulously walking his tight rope in the talcum light; but how much rarer art there is in the sagging rope expert wearing scarecrow clothes and impersonating a grotesque drunk! I should know." (Vladimir Nabokov)
