Two years ago, Moodini went into the brazilian jungle to make some field recordings. He collected everything from the booming giant bass drum suspended in an even more giant spider web, to the virtuosos stylings of a Potiguaras indian warrior drum squad. As soon as he got back to civilization he recorded Let's Get Outta Here! - 16 songs nicely unfolding in a carefully crafted 55 minute sonic adventure.
Moodini is pleased to present you with this concept album, showing his multiple moods and love for both funky rockin' mashed & pasted techno and inspired guitar pop music.
THE BUZZ ABOUT the new album;
"I really enjoyed it, I'm particularly fond of "High", it's very Flaming Lips."
Rupert Bottenberg (Montreal Mirror)
"Local wunderkind Moodini takes a page from Artist Of The Year's playbook with this irreverent and infectious bit of dance floor lunacy. Let's Get Outta Here! is worth getting excited about, especially for those weaned on the bouncy, slapstick chicaneries of Basement Jaxx and batucada-inflected house. The production is crazy tight, as is the manic use of samples, from the Pixies to Led Zeppelin to the Blake Edwards classic "The Party" (good luck trying to single them out). Eat your heart off a plastic lunch tray, Akufen! [4/5]"
Christopher Paré (Nightlife Magazine)
"J’aime bien. Je commence à en faire jouer samedi."
Claude Rajotte (Radio-Canada)
"It is sooooooooooooooooo good. It's the ultimate party album!!!"
DJbt
"The debut from Montreal’s Moodini recalls Madchester groove and Shibuya club pop, funky monkey business and sci-fi zap, loungecore and bigbeat bounce (with the occasional swatch of bossa nova and country music thrown in for a chuckle). The strength of these sparkling instrumentals lies in the obsessive attention to detail, so listen close and expect the unexpected. [7.5/10]"
Rupert Bottenberg (Montreal Mirror - CD reviews, may 14 2009)
MOODINI ON THE RADIO
Soon after its release Let’s Get Outta Here! found its way up on the top ten charts of university and community radios across Canada, and entered at # 5 on The National Campus & Community Radio Report’s (!EARSHOT) electronic charts. And who knows about Poughkeepsie? Still waiting to hear from them.
THE MEDIA ON some of MOODINI's previous projects:
about The Zen Martians' (psychedelic-experimental-rock circa 1990-1994) Sprucesonic Fire album;
"...howling freedom, amazing inventiveness, hard fuzz, bagpipes, didgeridoos, prodigious distortion, as colorful, uplifting and strange as the Beatles."
- Jenny Ross, Montreal Mirror, may 1992
about Eric Va Aux Toilettes (circa 1988-1992, surely the most free-spirited, insane, funny, experimental, pop, heavy-metal, hip hop, electro, punk, blues rock, new wave, avant-garde band ever, they gained cult status soon after the release of their first album: Ton Joli Visage Avec Mon Pénis Dedans);
"...Eric va aux toilettes s'est mérité une mention spéciale pour son impertinence et son irrévérence."
(prix conçu sur mesure et attribué par le regretté Pierre Bourgault en clôture du concours Rock Envol, organisé par Radio-Canada) - Félix Légaré, Voir, juin 1988
