So... the Moon Mission Death Squad is a lo-fi, indie rock mother fucker of a slacker bike rock band.
We're brothers, we've been putting out records for nine years, played a shitload of shows that no one came to, and are still doing it. We don't play live anymore because we live 200 miles away from each other, but we're constantly working on new material to meet our rigorous "one album every two years" production schedule.
Neither of us eat meat or dairy or eggs. We're Vegan, get it? Mason makes coffee at the health food store and Daniel is the soundman you treated like shit the last time you went on tour. Mason always has a beard and Daniel usually has one as well. We both wear glasses and vote as left wing as possible.
We believe that music should be free and we hate the record industry and the RIAA.
While we really like this Virb thing (it's like myspace, but not for douche-bags and whores), there's a limit of 30 songs. With five albums, plus a b-sides, we ran out of room.
Consequently, here are the places to download high quality mp3 of all of our music, 100% free of charge:
STUDIO ALBUMS:
Ex Nihlo Nihil [1999]
riyl: the cars, other new wave, analog synths. recorded in our bedroom in san antonio. classic MMDS.
The Fake Pope [2001]
riyl: centro-matic, vocal harmonies. a mix of lo-fi indie rock and heavily layered guitar driven indie pop
Ignore Your Problems and They'll Go Away... [2003]
riyl: granddaddy, an unpretentious mercury rev. a massive sonic landscape years in the making.
Fuck What You Heard [2005]
riyl: archers of loaf, a bitter superchunk. bass. drums. guitar. our only record with another member. we had a drummer for a while and daniel played bass. we kicked him out because we can't work with anyone else.
4tracker/attacker [2007]
riyl: lo-fi powerpop overthrow. a 4 track opus recorded in mason's apartment. steer clear if you don't like guitar harmonies, old drum machines, or getting the shit kicked out of you by a guy on a bike who writes pop songs.
OTHER STUFF:
Choke On It! (B-Sides and Outtakes) [2004]
includes demos for our aborted alt-country band The Harper Valley Hypocrites. also two songs from an album that never happened in 2000.
Sharp Dressed Fan: A 4-Track Tribute to ZZ Top [2008]
a solo project by the big black bearded caller (aka mason). what if zz top's music wasn't fucking terrible?
Songs You Loved in High School [2008]
a very self indulgent lo-fi acoustic solo project by the big black bearded caller. there was a mic and a tape recorder and a lot of yelling.
