Morning Gift started as an outlet. A journal to keep ideas, thoughts, suggestions, anything I felt needed to be saved and not forgotten. The name does not have anything to do with the literal meaning (dowry) but instead just came to me as something easy to remember that was relevant to my tendency to write songs and record late into the night and early in the morning. I felt some songs were gifts from God in times when I felt I wasn't capable of being close to Him. I just felt through these songs God was assuring his prescence in my life.
As for a history, I started playing in a band formed with 4 or 5 friends struggling, like every young musical effort, to make a unique, interesting sound that all who listened would enjoy. We called ourselves Colourcast. However, again like most young musical efforts, we suffered through several line-up changes, along with a huge storm known as Hurricane Katrina which ultimately caused the band to drift apart. However, I continue to write music in hopes of one day beginning again with a full effort when life permits me to do so.
