oi gente! (hi guys)
Today we woke up at 4:00 in the morning to go worship with some college students at Mackenzie University. BUT, once we got to the bus stop at about 5 a.m, we noticed that the eleven of us were going to unsuccessfully be able to board the unbelievable crowded bus. they gave us looks (when hannah, kelsey, and chris got halfway in) like they were saying: "we dare you to take another step into this overflowing bus." we realized, after being glared at with ''crowded eyes" we quickly, without hesitation, told the bus driver "never mind. we're not going to fit." and in response to our offer and statement, the bus driver said, "obrigado (thank you)." this was said with a tone of relief. instead, we met the college students at noon for another worship service and fellowship. on the way there we got to go on subways and LESS crowded buses.
At the worship, we attracted more people than expected. thomas and james led the singing and ed led a short devotion. After the worship service, we talked with some of the students about our culture and their schooling (mainly because they really want to develop their english). We went to a food court near Mackenzie for lunch where most of us ate at a "por kilo" with traditional Brazilian food. I believe we could all agree that the dessert was the best part. Following our lunch, we headed to a bus station under the directions of Luis, a college student at Mackenzie. Although it was a straight shot back to the Julian's, the bus ride was 1 hour and 5 minutes: a record setting high for Chris, in the 5 years he has been in Sao Paulo.
After resting a bit at the Julian's, we headed to Forward English School where we talked with students there so that they could improve their English and to invite them to the Thanksgiving dinner Thursday night. We were entertained with singing, dancing, and flirting (well, at least the girls were :) ). After saying good bye (and girls receiving kisses on the cheek), we headed back to the house where some of us baked for Thursday night and some took an adventure to Wal-Mart. As of now, we are awaiting the start, "kick-off" of the Brazil v. Uruguay game which begins at 9:45!!! I'm not sure how many of us will be up for all of that considering our extremely early start!
Boa Noite!
