In addition, I've added stuff to my Flickr account since last December and I've got another load to put up sometime in the eventual future. But until then, http://www.michaelpatrickmayer.com

New ideas on photography from
Cranbrook Academy of Art on exhibit
at Museum of New Art, Detroit

Detroit / Pontiac Michigan, 1 March 2007—Cranbrook
Academy of Art candidates for Masters of Fine Art
(MFA) will show innovative new works in the exhibition
“Picture This: New Ideas on Photography” at the Museum
of New Art, Detroit / Pontiac Michigan from 9 March
through 14 April 2007.

The exhibition will include works from seventeen
artists whose research and current studio practice is
based out of the Cranbrook photography program headed
by artist-in-residence Carl Toth. Works range from
prints-on-paper to sculptural pieces that examine the
boundless possibilities of contemporary photographic
practice.

Picture This: New Ideas on Photography from Cranbrook
Academy of Art, shows objects, ideas, and insight that
illustrate the program’s philosophy through the
collective and individual vision of participating
artists.

The photography program at Cranbrook explains:
“Utilized, theorized and debated across the full
spectrum of culture, photographic images generate a
virtual environment of seductive power and formal
complexity. To artist/photographers this elaborate
environment provides both a resource and a challenge…
The creation and maintenance of this constantly
shifting energized field, and the nurturing of the
works that emerge from it, are the primary goals of
the program in photography.”

Participating artists include: Brookes Britcher,
Christopher Durocher, Michael Glowacki, Sarah Harlan,
Christopher Lee, David Lambert, Eric Lubrick, Andrew
Maydoney, Michael Mayer, Fabian Morales, Christopher
Motta, Michael Newton, Linda Phelps, Tommy Reynolds,
Christy Shigekawa, Sarah Trahan, andTakafumi Yato

Picture This: New Ideas on Photography from Cranbrook

through Saturday 14 April 2007. The artists and Museum
New Art, Detroit / Pontiac will host an opening
reception from 6pm until 8pm Friday 9 March 2007.
Regular gallery hours are Thursday, Friday, and
Saturday from 12noon until 6pm. Artists will host
daily gallery hours. A gallery talk and reception will
be held by participating artists on Saturday 7 April
2007 at 3pm. Museum New Art, Detroit / Pontiac is
located at 7 North Saginaw Street in Pontiac Michigan.
