It’s Criminal
By Danny Presnell, 3/16/07
For my brother, someone I’ve met, and innocence
I welcomed you in
Gave you the keys to this castle.
And then I gave up on myself
Just to live with you without the hassle
And to me it is was duty
My service, my love
To give everything, all that I am
For you to do what you love
Though this road had hills
An old wood coaster with no brakes on
Sometimes the path was smooth glass
And others like spikes we’d walk on
But to me, having you
Near my heart, my side
Helped me roll, helped me on
Kept me on this ride
But suddenly…..
Without warning a storm circled round
And with it went my life, with it went my heart
My love betrayed, trampled on the ground
And it’s criminal, the way you took years from my life
And the vows we made, weren’t they supposed to last for all time?
But it’s something you can’t give back. It’s criminal.
Together we had life
Together we had small love
And all of the stresses that brings
For years we’ve rose above our problems
But for you, what about now?
How did you run this far?
We’ve all got friends,
But they’re the wrong arms
And what about angels
What about innocence?
When I gave all to keep you happy
Even things that defy nature’s sense
And for you, to explain?
Will they understand?
Or will I be blamed for this,
For pushing you away, this heartless man?
But suddenly…..
Without warning a storm circled round
And with it went my life, with it went my heart
My love betrayed, trampled on the ground
And it’s criminal, the way you took years from my life
And the vows we made, weren’t they supposed to last for all time?
But it’s something you can’t give back. It’s criminal.
