My name is Rachael, pleased to meet you - I'm a bit of a geek - actually, lets be honest...a lot of a geek. I spend my days working as a freelance software developer and in my spare time appreciating music of various kinds, running a website, taking photographs and staying on the right side of the law.
I have been told i'm brutally honest...it usually gets me into all sorts of trouble.
...sarcasm comes very easily and I take the piss like Andy Kaufman on a good day, or Chris Morris on a particularly shocking day...(i have my father to thank for that trait).
'Pikey mouth' is a nickname i'd like to get rid of by the time i'm 30, but can't see it happening thanks to Alex from Hot Chip.
I am Producer/Editor/Programmer behind '//TheConsole//'. My blogzine for all things wunderbar relating to music, art and graphics. It launched in Nov 06. Have a look
www.theconsole.co.uk - add it on myspace: www.myspace.com/theconsole
Get in touch if you want to be involved! I'm always looking for writers/people with good ideas.
Please give me new music to listen to - to become obsessed with - and eventually get dusty at the back of my ipod. Tell me about new bands that i might like - remixes and electronic beats that might tickle my fancy. Tell me if i'm becoming blinkard - shake me out of my blinkardness with something new.
I have also been known to answer my phone 'Beep! Beep! - Yes, Computer helpline...how may i assist you?' - as i'm the resident fixer of all things geeky.
Recently had a car crash..bad you may think? - but the compo allowed me to buy my digital SLR, among other things. I have already been spat at and called 'paparazzi', or 'bap-arazzi' oh, and learnt how to take disgustingly embarrasing pictures of people.
Have a look at my flickr site for gig and club night photos. I'm available for hire! (As a two bit photographer - not for naughty stuff). Get in touch if you want me to get involved...i have very competitive rates!
If you're in a band and your good then great! If you're in a band that aren't that good - then get out and make way for people who are better....and incidentally, dont whinge about it...oh and also sell your equipment on ebay so i can buy it at a knock down price.
High Fidelity, Man on the Moon, Napoleon Dynamite, Matrix, Waynes world, 40 year old virgin, Team America, Pulp Fiction, Home Alone (1&2 - not 3), Magnolia, Annie Hall, Manhattan, South Park, Anything with Jeremy Irons in it (except for Damage, which was truly awful)
The I.T. Crowd, Brass Eye, Curb your enthusiasm, Nathan Barley, Mighty Boosh, Extras, The Office, Time Trumpet, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Family Guy, South Park, Peep Show, Armando Iannucci Show, Heroes, Dexter,
Generally I don't read enough books - i dont have the time, although i was recently made redundant so now i'm getting into it again...i was intermittently reading 'The Game' by Neil Strauss because it was recommended by a friend, although with every chapter i read, its giving men a BAD name. Recently read - A book on JFK, A book on queen Elizabeth, A crime novel based in Aberystwyth, Wales.
Hurrah!! Oh yes, I've been piping on about Virb for a good while now, but nobody's been listening. Today I hit lucky and have found two friends who are actually on virb and also convince two others to sign up today. And so it begins...
